Literacy Programs in the Boundary
Baby Goose: A free, family literacy program for parents
and/grandparents and their babies aged birth to 14 months.
Learn songs, rhymes, storytelling skills and play activities
to share with your babies. Groups meet in Grand Forks.
Mother Goose: A free, family literacy program for
parents and/or caregivers and their children aged birth to
30 months. Learn songs, rhymes, storytelling skills and play
activities to share with your children. This program provides
important pre-literacy skills. Groups meet throughout the
Boundary.
Homework Club: A free after school program for students
in Grades 1 - 7. Get help with your homework and learn library
research skills in a fun-filled environment. Club meets at
the Grand Forks Public Library once a week after school.
The One to One Reading Program: Children read with
volunteer tutors in the schools for 2 hours a week. Free throughout
the Boundary.
Alphabet Soup: A free early literacy program for children
aged 3 to 5 and their parents and/or caregivers. Learn about
cooking, nutrition, songs, stories and crafts all centered
on a literacy theme. These activities provide important skills
for entering Kindergarten. Groups meet throughout the Boundary.
The Sharing Books Box: A traveling box of gently used
books, free for the whole family. A house full of books is
a house full of readers. Look for this box at literacy events
and programs across the Boundary or phone to request free
books.
ANNUAL LITERACY EVENTS: A Book Under Every Tree, Scrabble-a-thon
International Literacy Day, Much Loved Book Exchange, Family
Literacy Day,
Festive Family Story time.
