Statement
The
Child and Youth Committee (CYC) - Working together to create
a community where children, youth and families are valued
and experience a safe, healthy and vibrant life.
Mission
Statement
The
CYC is a motivated and passionate group of citizens and organizations
who are committed to social change and action to create a
healthier community in which children, youth and families
can grow and prosper.
- We
provide opportunities for citizens, activists, service providers
and decision-makers to bring energy, perspectives and challenges
by:
- Being
inclusive and pursuing different views and perspectives
- Drawing
knowledge and networks from the global to the community
and from the community to the global
- Providing
oversight to child, youth and family service delivery decisions
- Using
consensus building processes which result in supported community
action
- Providing
a table where equality, warmth and respect ensure that the
voice of children, youth and families are present, valued
and heard.
We
build capacity and inspire synergy in the communities of the
Boundary through collaboration, sharing resources and developing
integrated plans by:
- Focusing
on root causes* and using upstream thinking*
- Promoting
a population health approach* in the analysis of issues
affecting children, youth and families
- Educating
and raising awareness in order to empower citizens to make
better choices for themselves, their family and their community
- Supporting
a culture where calculated risk taking and evaluation is
encouraged so we can constantly improve and create best
practices.We nurture interconnectedness and model the process
to create a safe, healthy, vibrant community for the children
of today and tomorrow for the benefit of the whole community.
