About Us

Vision Statement

The Child and Youth Committee (CYC) - Working together to create a community where children, youth and families are valued and experience a safe, healthy and vibrant life.

Mission Statement

The CYC is a motivated and passionate group of citizens and organizations who are committed to social change and action to create a healthier community in which children, youth and families can grow and prosper.

  • We provide opportunities for citizens, activists, service providers and decision-makers to bring energy, perspectives and challenges by:
  • Being inclusive and pursuing different views and perspectives
  • Drawing knowledge and networks from the global to the community and from the community to the global
  • Providing oversight to child, youth and family service delivery decisions
  • Using consensus building processes which result in supported community action
  • Providing a table where equality, warmth and respect ensure that the voice of children, youth and families are present, valued and heard.

We build capacity and inspire synergy in the communities of the Boundary through collaboration, sharing resources and developing integrated plans by:

  • Focusing on root causes* and using upstream thinking*
  • Promoting a population health approach* in the analysis of issues affecting children, youth and families
  • Educating and raising awareness in order to empower citizens to make better choices for themselves, their family and their community
  • Supporting a culture where calculated risk taking and evaluation is encouraged so we can constantly improve and create best practices. We nurture interconnectedness and model the process to create a safe, healthy, vibrant community for the children of today and tomorrow for the benefit of the whole community.
