Traditional Parenting

WHERE: Greenwood Elementary School

WHEN: 11:30am to 2:30pm with lunch provided!

WHO: Any parent or caregiver who has or is caring for an Aboriginal child. Parents/ caregivers willing to embrace Aboriginal cultural teachings are also welcome.

WHAT: Among other things, this group provides cultural connections and experiences; a traditional talking circle; an opportunity to learn about the effects of colonization; medicine wheel teachings, as well as an opportunity to meet other parents and Elders in the community to share experiences about parenting and culture.

No sessions during spring break (March 21 and 28)

This group is FREE of charge and offers onsite child-minding as well as gas vouchers if needed.

Our Programs & Services

Boundary Family Services provides a wide variety of programs to meet the interests and needs of children, youth and families throughout the Boundary.

A Boundary Family Centre is located in each Elementary School from Christina Lake to Beaverdell with the main hub being the Glanville Family Centre in Grand Forks. Some programs require an appointment while other programs are open for drop in. Accessing most programs just requires that you contact us for an intake appointment or drop in time but some programs have specific guidelines and require a referral.
